{"id":3556,"date":"2013-02-22T09:27:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-22T09:27:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.riarauniversity.ac.ke\/?p=3556"},"modified":"2013-02-22T09:27:16","modified_gmt":"2013-02-22T09:27:16","slug":"implementing-kenyas-constitution-good-bad-unknown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sob.riarauniversity.ac.ke\/?p=3556","title":{"rendered":"IMPLEMENTING KENYA&#8217;S CONSTITUTION:  THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UNKNOWN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0By Mr. Kamotho Waiganjo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE RIARA UNIVERSITY LAW REVIEW ACTION WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THURSDAY, 28TH FEBRUARY 2013,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Venue:\u00a0 Main University Building:\u00a0 Room G\/14<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Riara University will hold its next Law Review Action Public Lecture on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 2.30 p.m to 5.30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Kamotho Waiganjo is a Commissioner at the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC).\u00a0 This Commission oversees, facilitates and co-ordinates the implementation of our new Constitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After graduating from Thika High School in 1982, Mr. Waiganjo pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Nairobi graduating in 1987.\u00a0 He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree (International Trade &amp; Investment Law) from the same university.\u00a0 He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of over twenty years standing.\u00a0 He is also a Chartered Arbitrator.The Riara University will hold its next Law Review Action Public Lecture on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 2.30 p.m to 5.30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prior to his appointment to the CIC, Mr. Waiganjo was in private practice specializing in commercial and conveyancing law.\u00a0 He also provided extensive consultancy services on the constitution making process.\u00a0 He has taught at the Kenya School of Law and also served on the Council of the Law Society of Kenya.\u00a0 In addition, he served in various Commercial institutions and Civil Society organizations including the Africa International University, the Consolidated Bank of Kenya and Kituo Cha Sheria, a preeminent legal aid Non-Governmental Organization in Kenya, where as Chairman of the Board he spearheaded the expansion of legal aid and empowerment services to the North Eastern region, Nyanza, Mombasa, and the informal settlements of Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Waiganjo also served as a member of the Mathioya Constituency Development Fund and the Constituency Bursary Committee.
